Here at One on One Ministries, our mission is to assist those who are actively working towards improving their lives through various programs to help them achieve what they once believed to be impossible. We help victims of domestic violence, single parents, widows, veterans, children aging out of foster care, the disabled, elderly and homeless.

I am reminded of Jesus Christ. Was He ridiculed for not choosing the Pharisees when he chose His disciples? He chose fishermen, a doctor, a lawyer, a tax collector and more. He saw past the outward appearance and saw straight to the heart. He chose to use people that many would have overlooked. Throughout the Bible, you will see examples of this such as King David, Paul, Esther, Ruth, Peter, Noah and so many more. If you looked at them in the natural, as many of us do, you would miss the gift they had to offer.

We want to help people see what they don’t want to see. We know that many people believe others end up in the situation they are in due to poor decisions. However, while that is true some of the time, it is not the case in most situations. Life happens and sometimes takes us to unexpected places we never thought we would ever be. Others grow up in situations that are not the healthiest of environments, so they grow up to believe that life is normal. Some are the result of choices others made that affected them in a negative way. There are many who want to change but just do not know how to accomplish it or even where to start or it seems to be overwhelming.

We help others transform their lives by giving them a helping hand up (not a free handout), encouraging them, loving them, supporting them, mentoring them and helping them transform their life that was once ashes into a life of beauty. We do this through the various programs we offer. We know this takes time and does not happen overnight. However, we know that ALL things are possible through Christ Jesus no matter how hopeless they may feel or how hopeless the situation may look. Jesus can make dry bones live again. We want them to know that if they truly desire to have a better life and are willing to work for it, we will be there to help support them all the way helping them achieve their dreams.

I am reminded of the butterfly. You see its beauty, but very rarely do you wonder what it went through before it became a gorgeous butterfly. When a caterpillar undergoes metamorphosis, it is covered with a protective sheathing (chrysali). When it is in this stage, it is not very attractive, and some may even think it dead and worthless. However, it is transforming into something else from the inside out. Once it grows, it breaks out of that covering and turns into a beautiful butterfly. Once the transformation is completed, the butterfly spreads its wings and flies. It is the same with people. We help to cover and protect them while they are growing and transitioning into the beautiful, productive and successful people they were always meant to be. When you look at the new creation, you won’t see where they have been or what they have gone through. You will just see the beauty in what they have become. This transformation does not happen overnight as it does take time, hard work, perseverance, determination and mentorship. There is nothing more rewarding and beautiful then when you see someone come in broken and leave soaring new heights.
